A more affordable way to have your music recorded by high calibre musicians alongside fellow composers with the same expert professional service. 

A shared session offers composers a cost-effective way to record a short amount of material by sharing the studio's day costs with others. The per-minute price includes venue hire, musician contracting, conductor, producer, engineers, musicians, file delivery, library service, and Audio Movers streaming.

Your music recorded by world class musicians and expert engineers

Library Service

We'll print and bind your score and parts. 

ProTools Preparation

We will prepare your whole ProTools project including click. This can then be sent to you after the session.

Pre-Production

Meeting pre-session with our producer to discuss your music and session objectives.

In Person or Remote

We'd love to have you in person at the session, but if you can't come then we use the latest tech to make you present remotely

Musicians

We are pleased to offer shared recording sessions with The Studio Orchestra at a beautiful concert hall in central London, known for its excellent versatility and acoustics. With a rich UK tradition of exceptional sight-reading and decades of studio experience, our world-class players ensure the highest standard of soundtrack recording.

 

The Studio Orchestra features the UK's finest session players, including players from the UK's top orchestras, international soloist and orchestra principals - many of whom have played on countless Hollywood soundtracks .

Important info

  • We recommend 10 mins of recording time per approx 1 min of music.

  • Minimum booking of 20 mins.

  • Extra musicians available on request.

  • Prices are based on BPI/MU session agreement for commercial audio release. An uplift will apply for Sync to Picture. â€‹

Score and Parts 
Requirements

SCORE​

  • Non-transposing score in C. 

  • Bar number above every bar.

  • Min staff size of 3.5mm.

  • ​2 bar count in as standard - music should start bar 3 after 2 bars of click. 
     

PARTS

  • Parts should be formatted on a 2 page spread.

  • Bar number above every bar.

  • Min staff size of 6mm.

  • Repeats should be additional bars to keep in sync with click.

FAQ's

  • Will I own the rights to the recording?
    Yes - You will own the complete rights to the recording for commercial exploitation only. Sync to picture will require further rights to be clear (please get in touch).

  • Can I attend the recording session?
    Yes of course - we would love to have you at the recording session. If you can't attend then we use Audio Movers and Zoom to setup a high quality connection between you, the control room and the conductor. 

  • Who can help with orchestration and arranging?
    We can - We have an expert team to help make your music the best it can be. Please get in touch. 

  • How much time do I need to book?
    We suggest 10 mins recording time for approx 1 min of music. So for 2 mins of music, you would need 20 mins of recording time etc. Bookings are for a minimum of 20 mins.

  • Where do you record?
    We record in central London, a 2 min walk away from Liverpool Street Station .

  • How will the files be delivered?
    Following any light editing needed, we will send you the session project within 7 days of the recording, plus any specific requests you have for delivery. We are flexible.
